About Emily

Pianist, Emily Logan, from Moncton, NB, began her musical journey at an early age. She is the 2012 winner of the Zoya Solod Piano Scholarship from the University of Ottawa, the recipient of an ArtsNB Grant in 2012, and the 2011 winner of the New Brunswick Piano Competition.

Emily received a Master of Music in Piano Performance program from the University of Ottawa, where she studied with Canadian pianist, David Jalbert. She currently studies with Lynn Johnson and occasionally with Virginia Weckstrom from Rice University in Houston, Texas. Emily is also an alumnus of Mount Allison University and the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School. As a performer, she has given solo, collaborative, and chamber music recitals, and was guest young artist at the Saint Andrew’s Summer Concert Series in 2011. She has participated in numerous masterclasses with well-known performers, including Janina Fialkowska, André LaPlante, and Honens Laureate, Gilles Vonsattel.

In addition to her solo study, Emily also remains active as a collaborative pianist, performing with singers, instrumentalists, and in chamber groups. Her trio, Trio Le Mascaret, place 2nd at the National Music Festival in August 2013.

Emily has been the recipient of numerous scholarships at both Mount Allison University and the University of Ottawa, including University of Ottawa’s esteem Admission Scholarship and Assistantship. She placed first in her division at the NB Music Competition in February 2010, in addition to numerous first place prizes at local festivals. In addition to music studies, Emily is a full-time student with Algonquin College, studying Performance Coaching. She also remains active as a private piano teacher. When not engaging in musical activities, Emily enjoys playing Bridge.
